Airalo vs vigxo for Japan: same GB, same 30 days, side by side

Disclosure and method

This page is published by vigxo, one of the providers compared. Listed USD price for the same data and validity on each provider's public page, before promo codes, credits or taxes.

Like-for-like means the same GB and the same days, not a closest match. Each price is the USD amount on that provider's public Japan page, before promo codes, credits or taxes.

A row that could not be confirmed on the check date is left out rather than estimated. That is why Ubigi appears only at 10 GB: on 14 Oct 2026 its English catalogue did not list a 3, 5 or 20 GB plan for 30 days, and Airalo did not list 3 GB for 30 days. Prices checked on 14 Oct 2026 for Airalo and Ubigi, and on 15 Oct 2026 for Nomad and Saily.

Japan eSIM prices: 5, 10 and 20 GB for 30 days

Nomad listed its 10 GB and 20 GB plans as a sale on the check date. The table shows that listed price, and a row older than 30 days drops out until it is checked again.

What differs besides price

On the vigxo side, these are the facts that apply to every Japan plan in the table:

• Web checkout: no app needed, and no App Store 30% cut built into the price.
• The install link arrives by email after payment, with a QR code as a fallback.
• 1-tap install on iOS 17.4+ and Android 10+.
• Validity starts at the first connection in Japan, not on the day you buy.
• Hotspot is included, so a laptop or tablet can share the plan.
• Full refund on any plan you haven't installed, up to 30 days from purchase.
• The per-GB price is shown on every plan.

For the other providers we only repeat what their own pages state, with the source and date:

• Nomad's Japan page says its plans can be activated within 60 days of purchase. Source (checked September 29, 2026)
• Saily's Japan page says: "All plans have a 180-day activation period." Source (checked September 29, 2026)
• Airalo's Japan page shows "Softbank +1 other" as its network. Source (checked October 15, 2026)
• Nomad's Japan page lists "KDDI au / SoftBank". Source (checked October 15, 2026)

Networks: vigxo's Japan page lists NTT docomo, Rakuten Mobile, KDDI/au and SoftBank. Turn on data roaming for that line to use them. This page does not rank networks.

How much data for a Japan trip?

Typical-use estimate (maps, messaging, social, some video), about 0.5–0.8 GB a day. Not a vigxo promise; your use will vary.

Video and a laptop hotspot use more, so size up one step for that. See how much eSIM data you need or the data calculator.

What about "unlimited" packages?

Airalo, Nomad, Saily and Holafly also sell packages they call "unlimited" (their term), priced by the number of days instead of by GB. That is a different kind of product from a fixed-GB plan, so it is not in this table: there is no same-GB row to put it against.

For a day-priced package against a fixed plan, see Holafly "unlimited" vs a 10 GB plan for Japan.

Before you buy: 4 checks

• Your phone supports eSIM: iPhone XR, XS and newer, iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation), Galaxy S20 and newer, Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip, Pixel 3 and newer.
• Your phone is carrier-unlocked. That is required for any travel eSIM.
• For 1-tap install you need iOS 17.4+ or Android 10+. On older versions you scan the QR code from the same email instead.

Not sure about your model? The device check takes a minute. If the plan turns out not to work on your phone, you get a full refund on any plan you haven't installed, up to 30 days from purchase.
