What does it mean if my phone is on this list?
It is one of the models this page lists as able to use an eSIM. The list is the set of models kept on this page.
My phone is not on the list. Does that mean it will not work?
No. Open Settings, then Cellular or SIM, and look for Add eSIM. If that control is there, the phone can install an eSIM.
Does the phone also need to be unlocked?
Yes. It needs to be carrier-unlocked. If you are not sure, vigxo refunds a plan in full before you install it.
Do mainland China iPhone models support eSIM?
No. The Apple note on this page says mainland-China models do not support eSIM.
What should I do after my phone is on the list?
Open the destination you are traveling to and pick a plan there, before you pay.
